The Fire This Time: Black TLGBQ, Artists Share the Vision of a New World

(June 2021 | Baltimore, MD)

As a collective member of BBQ Art, I co-curated this celebration of Black Queer art. The event featured a moderated panel discussion of Black queer artists discussing how art has been used as a tool for advocacy, self-love and community building. This was the first event of its kind in the Reginald F. Lewis Museum’s history. The Lewis is the second largest African American history museum on the East Coast.

Event Chair, FreeState Justice
(2017-20 | Baltimore, MD)

As a member of the Executive Board Committee, I chaired the events subcommittee. I convened all of the events subcommittee meetings, coordinated logistics, captained marketing & media outreach activities, and selected talent for our signature annual Jazz Brunch fundraising event.

Event Highlight— Freedom, An Evening of LGBTQ Storytelling (CenterStage). This sold out (!) fundraising event featured eight, local powerhouse LGBTQ storytellers giving their takes on the theme Freedom. Held at Baltimore’s CenterStage venue, the event was part of a series of fundraisers to support the work of FreeState Justice.

Talent Manager, Keystone Korner
(Baltimore, MD)

I had the opportunity to provide startup support for Baltimore’s premiere jazz club, Keystone Korner. As an Interim Talent Manager, I provided direct support to the Club Owner by managing all artist contracts, managing deposits, pitching stories to local news outlets (secured placement on FOX45) and coordinating media logistics. I also had the opportunity to select the lineup of local talent during the week nights (typically Monday – Wednesdays).
